Worship Community
The 9 Purposes in WC Life

Worship Community exists to give glory to God by loving God,
other believers, and unbelievers through relationships, education,
and action in the local community and around the world.

The following chart explains how each of the 9 purposes in WC Life affect each direction of our love.

  Relationship   Education       Action
God Worship Discipleship Ministry
Believers Fellowship Unity Care
Unbelievers Involvement Evangelism Outreach

These nine purposes in WC Life are an expansion upon the 5 purposes of the church that are illustrated in The Purpose-Driven Church by Rick Warren. Warren pulls these 5 purposes from Acts 2:42-47. While it may be argued that the nine purposes of WC Life are contained in the 5 purposes given by Rick Warren, I believe that you will find all nine purposes of WC Life clearly contained in Acts 2:42-47.

Worship: Prayer (v.42), filled with awe (v.43), praising God (v.47).
Discipleship: Devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching (v.42).
Ministry: Prayer (v.42), many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles (v.43).
Fellowship: All the believers were together (v.44), every day they continued to meet together (v.46), they broke bread in thier homes (v.46).
Unity: All the believers were together and had everything in common (v.44), ate together with glad and sincere hearts (v.46).
Care: Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need (v.45).
Involvement: Every day they continued to meet in the Temple courts (v.46), enjoying the favor of all the people (v.47).
Evangelism: And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved (v.47).
Outreach: They gave to anyone as he had need (v.45), enjoying the favor of all the people (v.47).

As with the principles of the Rick Warren model, these are the general purposes for the WC model. The particular aspects as to how each of these purposes will be developed is a highly contextual issue, and will be in some way different for each church. The following pages will lay out basic guidelines for each of the nine purposes in WC Life, and will also begin to shape a vision for implementing these guidelines in a particular context.

Loving God
Loving Other Believers
Loving Unbelievers

The WC model is an ongoing process and will be under development for several years. Check back often to see the growing vision and detailed plans for how the vision will be carried out.
